Maze Runner Books Redesigned

My goal for this project was to redesign the original covers of the Maze Runner series with a visual aesthetic that appeals to a more mature audience. I grew up reading and loving the series, but the original covers strongly reflect the 2000’s sci-fi aesthetic that is not currently popular — and not something I’d display as an adult. I still love the series and wanted the aesthetic of the series to mature with me, which is why I redesigned these books. I wanted to create something that was more mature and elegant but still reflecting the dystopian future the stories are set in.

The final redesigned editions successfully embody the mature and elevated aesthetic I wanted while still honoring the spirit of the Maze Runner series. I replaced the original covers with textured, cloth designs and intricate metallic overlays. The books now feel like purposeful display objects rather than typical young adult paperbacks. Each cover’s motifs directly relates to each story in a subtle way.

The gold elements make the books have sense of sophistication yet also futurism. The contrast between the matte fabric and reflective metal adds depth and visual interest, especially in light when the jackets reflect onto the surface below. Overall, the final pieces achieve a balance of elegance, nostalgia, and thematic relevance that allows fans to display the books proudly as cohesive decor.
